HTML clipboardHey there. Sorry to my Entrecard friends. I have not dropped on any of them for about 2 days now. I'm not planning on severing myself from the service, it's just that I've been feeling pretty damn tired and have been pretty damn lazy to do it. I tend to get to my blog reading (and dropping) at approx. 10PM. Because of that, I usually don't go to bed till close to midnight. It's not all the web's fault, Family Guy is on at 11PM and I'll find myself watching it while online. I pretty much consider this "my online work" because, let's face it friends, dropping and reading can be a time consuming and tedious task. Last night, I got to thinking of my online work and was about to get started on it, until I flipped the channel and started watching this one movie called Shooter. I don't know what it is with me and snipers but I thought the movie was pretty bad ass. Nowhere near as good as Enemy at the Gates (one of the most bad ass sniper movies EVER) but nevertheless, a good flick. Then I noticed that our cat was outside and I had out there and get him. I spent a good 15 mins out in the cold trying to get our cat out of the neighbors yard. I wouldn't doubt it if that's why I'm feeling like crap today. I felt hot as hell this morning and I started coughing up all kinds of crap... I came in to work though, figuring it would calm down some... It has, but still, I'm not up to snuff right now. At least we're getting Thursday and Friday off. The kids are on spring break this week and we weren't able to get the whole week off, like we usually do, so we had to settle for 2 days. It would suck if we spent those 2 days sick... Later!

Yahoo Opens its Music Catalog to Developers with New API

Yahoo may seem like it’s in a death spiral, but that has not stopped the developers from doing their work. Today we saw the announcement of the Yahoo! Music API.

The API is a fairly complete offering, giving developers lots of access to various parts of Yahoo’s catalog as well as user recommendations and ratings. As an example of what can be done with the new API, Yahoo points to their music video application on Facebook, which has been up and running since last year.

As a developer, the first question seems to be what data formats are available. Obviously, Yahoo is listening to the developer community because the API offers XML, JSON and RSS formats. There is also extensive API documentation in the API Guide. Most importantly, what does the API give you and what makes it better than the others?

The API is broken into 9 services and the video player API. The video player API allows you to embed the Yahoo! Music Videos Flash Player to quickly play any videos found through the API services.

The only initial concern with the API is that any service calls for ratings or recommendations require the use of BBAuth, a Yahoo-specific authentication mechanism. Otherwise, there is a lot you can do with these services, including:

* Artist Service
* Category Service
* Image Service
* Rating Service
* Release Service
* Station Service
* Track Service
* User Service
* Video Service

Each of the services has several options as well. For example, the Artist Service allows you to retrieve information for a specific artist by ID. There are also services for retrieving the list of popular artists and the artists within a specific category. As expected, several of the services have a search method when you do not know the ID of the item you would like to retrieve.

How does the API compare to other API offerings from Yahoo Music competitors? Imeem has an API that is geared towards how the site is used, allowing you to get information about your playlists, your friends and groups as well as some basic catalog information. Last.fm has an API that has been around for quite some time at AudioScrobbler.net. Most of the Last.fm API pertains to your profile, tags and recent activity. Given that both Imeem and Last.fm have a heavy social component, they are significantly better for finding recommendations from your “friends”. However, given the breadth of the services available, especially for standard catalog information, Yahoo’s API looks like a formidable competitor.

One important addition to all of this is Yahoo’s terms of service. You are limited to 5000 requests per day, which should be fine for a simple mashup as long as you do not get much traffic.

As expected, you are not allowed to use the API for commercial purposes, but you may contact Yahoo for permission. This is not any different from many other music APIs, so that is no surprise. Oddly enough, there is one item that needs to be highlighted:

You shall not use the Yahoo! Music APIs in a product or service that competes with products or services offered by Yahoo!

I can understand the point of this, but it seems a little heavy handed. If they are afraid of someone having a competing service that is better, make a service that is better than theirs.

Overall, I love the functionality that the Music API is offering. It is very detailed and provides several ways to get information. If I was a mashup developer, I would be concerned about the terms of service because they are not friendly in any way. Given the current state that Yahoo is in, I do not think they would try to shut down a decent service because it competed with theirs. They would not want the PR nightmare that would follow. Hopefully, people will find interesting uses for the API because you do not see APIs this solid every day.

Mumbai, Aug 3 (IANS) Actress Tara Sharma, who was missing from the silver screen after her marriage to beau Roopak Saluja, promises to be back with a bang with a variety of films.

'I have kept away since my wedding but now I have quite a handful of good films to do,' Tara told IANS.

Having worked in films like 'Masti' and 'Page 3', the actress will soon be seen in a movie by Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh, Shri Ashtavinayak's 'Maharathi', Maverick Productions' 'Dulha Mil Gaya', 'Ye Fassa' and an English film titled 'Other End of Life'.

'I think I have really good films in hand. Now I want to work with Aamir Khan's production house,' she said.

Apart from these, her films 'The Whisperers' and 'Mumbai Cutting' were screened at the Osian's-Cinefan film festival held last month. While Rahul Bose is her co-star in 'The Whisperers', 'Mumbai Cuting' is actually a mix of several short films.

Tara is also set to get pregnant on screen. She plays a single mother in a film titled 'Suno Na'.

Her film 'Maharathi' is slated for an Aug 22 release. It is a suspense thriller and boasts of a star cast that includes Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri and Boman Irani.

“Hello bro, Google have updated their page rank and you will be shocked to know that my blog have given page rank 1…what about you? Have you checked yours?”
Did you people get why did he tell that it was shocking news to him… Its simple he had page rank 6 before but now Google dropped his page rank to 1… By reading his mail for a moment I was in hell n the next thing that striked my mind was to check Google page rank of www.ritemail-bollywood.blogspot.com... So I opened http://www.prchecker.info/ [to check my Google page rank] and after waiting for around 10 minutes (because of slow net connection), I was surprised because the page rank was exactly same as before (page rank 3)… So I was happy for ma blog but at the same time sad for ma friends blogs….
Any ways so this was the result for Google page rank this time… Let’s see what’s going to happen next time...

If you ever want the film that is entertaining, light, good story and a saga with enchanting performances then this is the film with you. Om Shanti Om is undeniably on its way to become a super success in the days to come. Shahrukh Khan is good in most of the parts but Deepika comes in as a surprise.
Her act as a debutant is surely worth applauds. Despite being her first film, her presence could be felt and it wouldnt be wrong to credit her equally for the film.
The story starts with a loud Shahrukh Khan as a junior artist. Shahrukh plays the character of Om who fancies the 70s superstar Shanti(Deepika Padukone) as his love. The first half of the film shows the madness in the 70s and the director Farah Khan has lived up to the expectations of the Indian crowd. The costumes match perfectly with the age depicted in the film.
Om has a filmy mother (Kiron Kher) and an ever lasting wish of becoming a superstar and receiving the much acclaimed Filmfare award. Om has a devoted friend called Pappu master (Shreyas Talpade) and Arjun Rampal as the producer in the film. Arjun also plays the negative character in the film.
If you really wish for something in life, then the whole universe conspires to get it to you. The film has a very important message for the viewers and it is fairly motivating.
Its like you should never give up your dreams, someday you will be where you want to see yourself.
Om dies in the process of saving shanti who happens to be the villains wife and he is reborn to fulfill his half achieved dreams.

See how it flows with emotion and love. Firstly let me clarify it is not for people who believe in mass, masala or mix(remix). It is also not for people who relish greed, bigotry or nepotism

It is purely for people who values Love, emotions, romance. It is also for people who learns from people who made history, who made this nation what it is today.I am a die hard romantic , so it was obvious I loved the movie. Also my wavelength is somewhat similar to Nikhat Kazmi and Taran Adarsh although not everytime. Watch it guys for your love to blossom further.

U, Me Aur Hum Movie Review

First think you do is to compare Amir Khan and Ajay Devgun for their directorial debut. The result is Amir wins the match. Not that Ajay has failed. In fact he did a commendable job of his first movie making us wait for his next one.The difference is in essence. Amir created substance with panache whereas Ajay polished the substance which could have been more effective had he curtailed its post interval length.

I tried my best not to carry my hanky as I learnt from various pre movie release reviews. I managed to hold on till the end (My eyes swelled only in the last reel though). I found Ajay having his own mark of direction style with close ups resting on expressions and special effects to convey human feelings although its not a first time in the industry.

Kajol as usual was excellent with all supporting actors ably giving their best. This movie is only for lovers and married couples. Strictly a no no for kids. They will fall asleep watching the movie. Film has his subtle humor which are at the right places.

Overall a Good movie to watch if you are in love. Go see it.
